Achromat 3mm Turntable Mat

Achromat is Funk's original mat. This is how it works:

Energy from the motor drive the platter and record. In turn and in the groove, this energy is translated to music. In doing so, the stylus accelerates at over 20,000 G. That is a lot of energy entering the record. If it lingers, you hear it as colouration — “analogue sound”. That is where the mat becomes critical.

Felt and rubber are the most popular mat materials, but neither absorbs energy effectively. Achromat uses millions of micro-bubbles to dissipate it, reducing colouration and letting more of the music through.

Twenty years of development means that the 3mm mat has now been replaced by APM, Funk's Advanced Platter Mat. The 3mm is now our entry mat and suitable for turntables with flat platters. Not suitable for lipped platters.
