01 ENGINEERING-LED UPGRADES
Your turntable is capable of far more than it currently delivers. The right upgrade — tonearm, isolation, or mat — can transform the same deck into a genuinely high-end source.
Isolation · Mats · Tonearms · Cartridges
Every upgrade is designed, tested, and often hand-assembled at our workshop in Newhaven. No compromises, no outsourcing of critical quality decisions.
Our upgrades are not about fashion or brand prestige. Each product addresses a specific, measurable weakness in typical turntable performance.
From entry-level isolation feet to high-end tonearm replacements, our range covers every budget and most popular turntable platforms.
02 THE RANGE
Each upgrade category addresses a different part of the analogue playback chain. Start with isolation, then consider the mat, and finally the tonearm.
Replace your factory-fitted tonearm with a precision Funk Firm FX, FX3, or FX5 tonearm. The tonearm is the critical link between cartridge and signal — a better arm means better music.
Separate your turntable from vibration. Isolation upgrades work on any deck, at any price point, and typically provide the most dramatic audible improvement per pound spent.
Replace your stock rubber or felt mat with an Achromat. This acoustically transparent mat eliminates reflections between the record and platter, reducing coloration and improving clarity.
Rega turntables are excellent platforms for aftermarket upgrades. The Funk Firm offers spacer kits, armboard adaptors, and isolation solutions designed specifically for Rega decks.
03 RECOMMENDED PATH
Our recommended sequence for maximum return on investment.
Vibration contamination affects every component above it in the playback chain. Remove it first and all other improvements become easier to hear.
The stock mat on most turntables adds coloration and reflections. An Achromat is acoustically transparent and significantly improves clarity.
The tonearm controls the cartridge's relationship with the groove. A better arm reduces resonance, improves tracking, and extracts more information.
Once the platform is optimised, a better cartridge can realise its full potential — often performing well above its price point in an upgraded system.
