Little Super Deck

Anticipate much…
Funk’s latest addition is a mid-priced turntable and arm.
Named Little Super Deck, it ought to come as no surprise that we ourselves feel there is nothing “mid-priced” in its performance, so as you read on be prepared for a few surprises.

Audition it. It delivers…
You want a deck that digs more music from the grooves? Well you have found it. But how to know it delivers? Award after award this design comes in at number one.
Funk’s “Little Super Deck” is aptly named.

Go and compare. If you can't find a dealer, then why not try
Funk at Home, risk free for 14 days against whatever deck you have in mind.

How do we do it?...
The platter may be industry standard but it rotates on top of a quality, hand burnished bearing. In turn this is driven by a superb motor and control.
We wouldn’t be Funk if we didn’t couple and stabiiise the platter using Funk's unique three-pulley
Vector Drive, which has delivered great results.
The results show we were right. Independent German test measurements show some of the lowest ever recorded wow & flutter and rumble.

Having started with a solid foundation for the turntable itself, what of the arm?
Funk’s new
F5 may be budget priced but careful choice of materials and constructions have resulted in a design with its resonances very well behaved. This makes it highly capable in its task of supporting your cartridge, even cartridges costing more than the price of the deck itself.

Amongst many features are
- a clever variable mass tracking weight system that helps optimise the arm for different cartridges which themselves really do have different preferences for arm characteristics and
- a nifty headshell that makes fitting cartridges and adjusting the important parameters of overhang and azimuth easy using just a single screw.

Note Funk's "Vectoring" three-pulley configuration which delivers stability and authority to the drive.

Vectoring supports the bearing allowing it to freely rotate about a single point.

Do others agree with us?...
The reviews have started to come out and one by one they are all saying the same thing.

HiFi World have given it an unequivocal five globes:

Sonically:
“Throughout my listening I felt involved in the music rather then just listening to it, which is surely the whole point..”

Technically is was described as:
“…a belt drive turntable of unusual stability that will have a rock steady tone and an arm that is well damped and vibrationally inert”.

These comments are supported by measurements, which when compared with oh, so many others, show a pedigree that really is unusual.

In Germany, the world’s largest analogue market, two premier magazines have each heaped praise on this new comer to the market.

Other reviews are on the way and we will update accordingly.

Living with it…
“Little Super Deck's” styling brief was to evoke not only a timeless quality but also one capable of gracing many different settings.
Already it has been described as “21
st century retro”.
It appears we succeeded.

Are your surroundings minimalist? “Ice white” is the perfect complement.
Lush, traditional furniture? Enhance it with our solid American Walnut Trim.
The deep black “Jet” finish highlights crisp lines.
Those who are more adventurous have not been left out either; special finish options (to order) are available in a variety of colours.

Turn the switch; an understated responsive soft glow appears from the control plate, adding a serene air of luxury.

At 7kg there is a fair bit of heft when it come to picking it up.
A 415 x 320 mm footprint means that it really is about as “Little” as they come. Good things and small packages come to mind.

Future Proofing…
Ongoing enjoyment is the aim and Little Super Deck’s appeal doesn’t suddenly end.
Our ethos is to help your new acquisition grow with your aspiration and pocket; Little Super Deck is fully upgradable. Here’s how:

The first and easiest upgrade is to replace the felt mat by our now world famous 3mm Achromat…In offering that, one can see immediately that we are true to our core values and haven’t thrown the baby out with the bath water. For this new product, Achromats is available in a variety of colours to help you personalise your purchase. See your dealer. Of course these are also available as an upgrade for other turntables as well.

Problem with your electricity? No problem. A fully regulated and junk rejecting power supply replaces the wall plug to help remove background hash.

Solid decks are currently “de rigueur” but there is no getting away from the fact that a well designed isolation platform does remove low level feedback and junk that insidiously messes up your musical enjoyment. Funk’s Kinetic Kradle (out summer 2013) is the solution to solve that problem and free up your soundstage.

Finally you want the best arm possible? Funk’s technologically unique range is ever increasing and your upgrade path there will take you as far as you want to go.
