Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year, with people all over the world hitting the stores in late November to get good deals ahead of Christmas.
While most shoppers fill their bags with gifts for their friends and family, Christmas decorations for the house, and items that they need in preparation for the Yuletide season, there are also a considerable number who simply want to grab a bargain.
It is a great opportunity for people to get their hands on the latest technology, including retro-looking turntables that they might have always wanted.
On Black Friday last year, £1.39 billion was spent on online sales alone. This is an increase of 11.7 per cent from 2016’s figures, according to IMRG.
Many of these sales were for turntables, with many discounts being offered for these, as well as noise-cancelling headphones, 4K TVs and Blu-ray players, according to What Hi-Fi?.
This year could offer more of the same, as shoppers are becoming savvier when it comes to finding a good deal, with many choosing to stay indoors and locate them on their computer instead of braving the cold weather on the high street.
Indeed, last year’s statistics showed a drop in sales for high streets, shopping centres and retail parks of 3.6 per cent, while online transactions exceeded expectations.
